About me

I am eleven, and I make things every day

I started with crayons on the back of grocery lists, and I never really stopped. Now I have a real easel, a jar of brushes, and a shelf of paintings that is completely full.

I like color that is loud. My favorites are marigold yellow, bright orange, leaf green, deep maroon and black — I use all five in almost everything. Black is the important one, because it makes the other colors look like they are glowing.

Most of my paintings start with one big shape and then I build around it. If it is not working I paint over it, which is allowed. Some of my best pieces are hiding two other paintings underneath.

I write songs too. I hum something while I am drawing, and if I still remember it the next day then it is a real song. I sing them into my tablet and draw the cover art myself.

What I use

My tools, in order of messiness

  • Acrylic paint

Thick, so it stands up off the page. My favorite.

  • Watercolors

Good for flowers, because the colors run into each other.

  • Colored pencils

For the small details and the black outlines.

  • Cut paper & glue

I tear the shapes instead of cutting them. It looks better.
